School clothing grants are payments given at the discretion of local authorities to assist with the cost of school clothing for state-maintained school pupils whose families are receiving particular state benefits or have a low income.


The Authority's school clothing grant policy provides for a grant to be made to the parents/guardians of any pupil who:

  • is entering a state-maintained secondary school at age 11; and

  • lives in the enter council name area; and

  • whose family receives one of the following benefits: Income Support or Jobseeker's Allowance (Income-based) or Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit and has an annual taxable income of less than £13,231 or financial support, in accordance with the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, from the National Asylum Support Service (NASS) or the Council's Asylum and Resettlement Team or Working Tax Credit.

Payment

Grants to the value of enter amount will be issued as cheques made out to the parents/guardians of eligible pupils.
