The purpose of the allowance is to assist dependent pupils aged 16 to 19 to follow full-time courses at school.


Applicants for the School Maintenance Allowance (SMA) must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside in enter council name
  • Attend a state maintained school
  • Must be sixteen years of age before enter date

How much am I entitled to?

This figure varies between £ enter amount and £ enter amount per annum depending upon parental income.
