Certain tenants can benefit from a scheme which provides a specified range of furniture and appliances up to a certain value when they move into their property. They sign an agreement to pay over a fixed period of time. The payment is made on a weekly basis and added to the rent.

The scheme is available to:

  • Introductory Tenants who have moved into an Council home for the first time and do not already have enough furnishings to meet their needs.
  • Any Secure Tenant of Council who is moving from a family-sized property to a smaller one or who needs to move urgently because of serious harassment.
  • If you have a furnished tenancy you are responsible for the upkeep of all furniture and fittings and to ensure they are left to an acceptable standard. An inventory has already been taken at the commencement of your tenancy and will be checked again if you end the tenancy.
